History


The Slidell Pickleball Association (SPA) was established in 2023 due to the phenomenal growth of pickleball in recent years. SPA is a non-profit corporation recognized and licensed by the City of Slidell and the State of Louisiana. Our IRS employer identification number is 93-2698860.

The purpose of the Slidell Pickleball Association is to promote the development and growth of pickleball in Slidell and surrounding areas. SPA’s objective is to work with public and private organizations to:

  • Promote pickleball for all (seniors, working adults, youth).
  • Foster the growth of organized tournament, league, and intermural play.
  • Promote the inclusion of pickleball in schools at all levels.
  • Work with elementary, middle schools, and high schools to recruit and establish Intramural type activities; also, to provide training and coaching.

Facilities


The City of Slidell offers the local pickleball community the finest facilities available on the Gulf Coast. Presently, SPA utilizes public facilities such as John Slidell Park (12 outdoor courts + 3 indoor courts) and Fritchie Park (8 indoor courts). SPA works closely with and assists whenever possible the City of Slidell Recreation Department.

Board of Directors


The Slidell Pickleball Association elects a board of directors which serves for 1 year. The board will consist of the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Facilities Coordinator, and Community Outreach Coordinator.

Affiliations


The Slidell Pickleball Association is a SELKIRK sponsored club and as such its members can enjoy special discounts on Selkirk paddles and other pickleball-related equipment, apparel and merchandise.

The SPA also works closely with DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating). Most of our tournaments will be DUPR reported events that require players to have a DUPR I.D. which can be obtained free at www.dupr.com. The Slidell Pickleball Association’s DUPR Club is also a DUPR registered club and anyone with a DUPR ID can join.
